What is SLAT? 

 

The Symbiosis Law Aptitude Test, commonly referred to as SLAT, is an entrance examination managed by Symbiosis International University (SIU). It serves as the admission test for four law schools under SIU, namely SLS Pune, SLS Noida, SLS Hyderabad, and SLS Nagpur. These institutions provide BA LLB and BBA LLB programs, with admission decisions based on the results of the SLAT.

Important dates for SLAT 2024 

 

Each year, SIU administers the SLAT 2024 examination during the initial weeks of May. The specific date for the SLAT 2024 exam will be disclosed later with the admission notification, till then candidates can rely on a provisional schedule provided below for their guidance.  The information is provided on the basis of the previous trend followed by the university. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

 

Symbiosis International University (SIU) conducts the SLAT examination to admit students into their five-year integrated programs for BA LLB (Hons) and BBA LLB (Hons). It is imperative for candidates to confirm their compliance with the SLAT Eligibility Criteria 2024 prior to submitting their applications. These criteria include information related to minimum educational qualifications, age limitations, required reservation certificates, and other relevant particulars. Failure to meet these prerequisites will lead to the disqualification of the candidate, irrespective of their performance in the SLAT 2024 exam.

 

Eligibility Criteria

 

  • For General/OBC Category Applicants: A minimum of 45% aggregate score in their class 12 is a prerequisite for candidates.
  • For SC/ST Category Applicants: Those in the SC/ST categories need to attain a minimum aggregate of 40% in their class 12.
  • Candidates Currently in Class 12: Individuals currently enrolled in class 12 and awaiting their final results are also eligible to apply. However, they must furnish their qualifying certificate during the admission process to confirm their eligibility.
  • Age Requirement: A notable aspect of the SLAT 2024 criteria is that Symbiosis International University imposes no age restrictions on candidates seeking to take the examination.

SLAT 2024 : APPLICATION PROCEDURE 

 

The university is planning to initiate the registration process for the SET Law (SLAT) exam around the second week of December 2024. The SLAT 2024 registration form will be accessible on the official website,   https://set-test.org/ .Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements will have the opportunity to register and submit their application forms before the deadline expires.

  1. SLAT exam will be held online, using a computer-based format.
  2. The exam comprises 60 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), each worth one mark.
  3. Notably, there is no penalty for incorrect answers in SLAT 2024; there is no negative marking.
  4. The question paper for SLAT 2024 will be exclusively in English.
  5. Candidates will be allotted 60 minutes to finish the test.
  6. Importantly, there will be no extension of time for candidates arriving late.
  7. SLAT scores will be converted on a scale of 50. Personal Interview will be of 30 Marks and a Writing Ability Test for 20 Marks, making SLAT a 100 Marks Exam.

 What is the eligibility criteria for CLAT 2025?

A candidate should have passed XII or any equivalent exam with the following percentage:

 

  • 45% - General/OBC/Specially-abled Persons (SAP) category.
  • 40% - SC/ST category.
  • Any candidate appearing in the qualifying examination, i.e., 10+2, can also appear for this examination. However, they should be able to produce sufficient evidence to prove that they have passed 10+2 at the time of admission.
  • The candidate must submit the result of the qualifying examination (i.e.10+2) at the time of admission, failing which the candidate shall be ineligible for admission to the Course

Will the application form for CLAT 2025 also be available in offline mode?

The application form of CLAT 2025 is available only in online mode. Also, any candidate who doesn’t complete online registration will not be considered for admission.

What are the important documents required for the registration?

Before filling the online form, make sure that one has the following documents:-

  • Latest Passport size photograph (Dimension: 200 x 230 pixels/ Size: 20 to 50 KB)
  • Scanned copy of the signature of a candidate (Dimensions: 140 x 60 pixels/ Size: 10 to 20 KB). The candidate should sign on white paper with Black Ink pen.
  • The image files (Photo & Signature) should be in JPG or JPEG format.
  • In case of Specially Abled Persons (SAP), a scanned copy of the certificate issued by the competent authority.

Is it possible to edit the form after submission?

No, it is not possible to edit the online application after the final submission of the form. So, our advice is to submit the filled in application form only after careful checking. 

Is it possible to edit the preference order of the NLUs after the declaration of result?

The candidate can fill the preference order for all Twenty (20) NLUs at the time of online application itself. Yes, change is allowed in the preference once the form is submitted by the candidate.

 What are the different options available to make the payment?

  1. Application fee can be paid online through net-banking /debit card / credit card/ pay wallet/ RuPay etc. or through offline mode by way of online- generated bank challan.
  2. Offline payments can be made after registering the application online and generating challans online. The print out of the challans generated have to be taken to the relevant bank for payment over the counter. Offline payments are to be made in CASH only.

From where will be the hall ticket/ admit card generated?

 

The Admit Card/Hall ticket can be downloaded by the candidate by logging into his/her LOGIN account.

The candidate has to take a print-out of the Admit Card/Hall Ticket and carry the same to the Examination Hall.

The admit card mentions all the important instructions that need to be taken into consideration.

  1. CASES: Teaching in law school revolves around ‘cases’. Most of the teachers quote direct reference from different Supreme court, high court and district court cases. Initially, this is difficult for the students to adapt to this methodology. However with the passage of time, they start adapting to it. A well-stocked library comes to the rescue of the students as most of them prefer to read books in their free time to develop their understanding of the subject.
  2. MOOT COURTS: These are mock courts where students argue imaginary cases for practice. But this is one of the most fun-filled and loved exercise. Lawyers wait for it eagerly. There are inter-college national and international level moot competitions that take place during the course. This is one of the classic example of learning by doing. The simulated environment provides the students a feeler of the courts and they continue to hone their skills.
  3. PARLIAMENTARY DEBATING: This is the second most loved exercise at the law schools. They are often referred to as ‘PDs’ by the students. There are two parts to a Parliamentary debate – The Speakers, and the Adjudicators, both of whom are marked by the other. While this may seem strange at first, it’s only a matter of a few debates before one grabs the nuances of debating.

Both Moot courts and PDs help the students to develop their analytical and oratory skills. They understand the nuances and details of building an argument and putting them across in a right manner. Life of a budding lawyer revolves around Acts, Debates, Cases, Internships and placements, Moots, Research Papers, and Sports Fests. You will have to burn the midnight oil but at the same time you will equally enjoy the fests and inter college competitions.
